Six Myths about Job Hunting

When you are looking for a job, you may have some ideas in mind, which may mislead you. Do you draw lots and believe in lucky numbers in job hunting? Don't fall into the traps of the myths and misconceptions about job hunting. Here are some myths.

Myth 1

Have an interview on a lucky number day, and you will be easily successful in interviewing.

Truth
It is not the case. Every day is the same. If there is a chance, seize it. Don't miss it because of the lucky day problems. A successful interview needs your good preparations for it, besides your ability, skills, and experience. If you are an able person, you can do it. If you make good preparations, you can do it better.

Myth 2

There are millions of jobs available, so it is easy to find a job.

Truth
It is true that there are many job opportunities available, and you can use millions of them to describe it.
But this is not easy as you think. If there are millions of jobs, there are more than millions of job hunters seeking employment. Competition is there, and not pain profits. Make sure you are well educated, or attempt to obtain higher education as possible. Or is that more able to learn and experience.

Myth 3
Internet is omniscient and omnipotent.

Truth
You can get details from the Internet, and it can help you in search of work, but it cannot give you a job. You have to analyze, sort and find a job. There is nothing wrong in using the Internet, but it would be wrong to rely too much on it.

Myth 4

Appearance is more important than ability, especially for a lady.

Truth
We cannot deny that the women in the US have a relatively higher salary than men in the US have. And, pretty ladies have a higher salary than the ordinary looking ones on average basis. Nevertheless, it is not true that appearance is more important than ability. Beauty is only skin-deep. The boss may use a beauty as a secretary; however, the person with ability may be the manager or the CEO. Nice appearance is only an advantage, which is born. Don't be pessimistic if you are not so pretty or handsome. If you are an able man, you will have a very good job.

Myth 5

It is not good to change a job.

Truth
Though there is a common sense that it is not good to change jobs frequently, it is necessary to change your job if you are under too much pressure, and you cannot get what you want. Rolling rock never has moss, but if the rock is in a dry place and wants to have moss on it, the rock can roll into a place with enough moisture for moss. What's more, it is helpful to roll over to let the moss grow better. Do you understand what I am talking about here? That is, if you are not satisfied with your job, it is wise to find another one to your taste. Most likely, you can have greater chance to make more money by changing your job. Another comparison: if you are married with a person who you later find that is not a match for you, you are wise to divorce and find another partner in life.

Myth 6
It is easy to get a job to send out millions of resumes.

Truth
It is not the case, for that is an aimless shooting behavior. When you shoot at a target in the wrong direction, you cannot hit it with billions of arrows or bullets, not to mention millions of them. When you are hunting for a job, you need to think of your skills, education, experience, and then find the right companies for you. Only in this way, you can get a job faster.
